It cost its billionaire owner, Stephen Hung, $1.4 billion to build this gem, with each of the 200 rooms, called villas, costing around $7 million. A night’s stay in the most expensive of them is $100,000.
Guests can choose to stay in a single or split-level villa. The “smaller” ones, called Villa du Comte, are 185 square metres, the next largest is Villa du Marquis at nearly 300 square metres, and the largest and most expensive, Villa de Stephen, is 2,787 square metres. Access to each is via a private elevator that opens directly into the lobby of the villa.
For the comfort and convenience of guests, a personal butler takes care of their meetings, events and leisure time. He is responsible for everything from dropping off clothes for ironing to booking various events. He greets the guests he will be responsible for with a Wellcome Drinks and remains their personal manager for the rest of their stay. All butlers are certified by the English Guild of Butlers.
